We are seeking to appoint a highly specialist qualified Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join an enthusiastic and cohesive team of Qualified and Assistant psychologists. The post is based in Rampton Hospital within the Autism service in the National High Secure Healthcare Service for Learning Disability and consequently offers the opportunity to develop skills and competencies in working with neurodevelopmental difficulties in high secure care.

You will work with a specialist multidisciplinary team that values psychological approaches. You will be supported by experienced Consultant Forensic Psychologist and/or Consultant Clinical Psychologist and may be required to provide clinical supervision and support to junior psychology and other staff. As part of the role, you will contribute to the development and evaluation of specialist treatment programmes, tailored to the complex mental health and risk needs of this population. You will be encouraged to conduct service-relevant evaluation / research and promote services as a centre of excellence.

To provide a comprehensive, highly specialist clinical and forensic psychology service to patients within the Autism ward of the National Learning Disability Service. To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy as well as offering advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to other members of the clinical team. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within Rampton Hospital. To propose and implement policy changes within the clinical and forensic psychology service.

The post-holder will provide a highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy service to the Autism service in the Learning Disability Service clinical team within the Hospital. Will offer advice and consultation on patient’s psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the Hospital’s policies, procedures and service priorities and exercising responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team.

Will participate fully in multidisciplinary clinical teams, often leading them, in providing a service to their patients. Will develop knowledge and skills in general aspects of forensic clinical psychology and, in particular, the assessment and treatment of patients who are legally detained. Will be capable of conducting projects, working largely independently, with only general briefings and working directly to Trust senior managers. To propose and implement policy changes within the Psychology Service.
