**Job Purpose**
This post is based in the University of Glasgow, School of Social Sciences within the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE) and is a fixed term contract to 31st October 2026.
CaCHE is a UK wide collaboration aiming to become the leading independent centre for the production, analysis and dissemination of research related to housing in the UK. From the administrative central hub in Glasgow, CaCHE operates an additional four regional hubs in London, Belfast, Cardiff and Sheffield with leading academics working across our thematic areas of interest. Establish in 2017, CaCHE has recently secured four more years of additional funding to continue our exciting programme of research which covers all forms of tenancy across the UK.
We are currently seeking a Communications and Engagement Officer to use their expertise to provide key strategic insights as we embark on an exciting new period.
Reporting to the Business Manager, the Communications and Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive and effective communications and engagement covering the whole of CaCHE’s activities. The role works closely with our knowledge exchange teams to embed communications from the outset of all projects, ensuring that our engagement is aligned with the wider CaCHE objectives and themes.
The Communications and Engagement Officer promotes the achievements and activities of CaCHE through a wide range of social media channels, press and engagement activities including in person, hybrid and online exclusive events. Our stakeholders are from across the research, policy, private, and practice sectors and include international as well as national colleagues. The postholder will ensure that communications meet the needs of different stakeholders and will be responsible for maintaining our online presence via the website.
The post-holder will be expected to have a close daily working relationship with the Director and maintain regular communications across the whole of the collaboration including the wider management team and theme leads. They will also be expected to work closely with communications colleagues within the School of Social and Political Sciences and College of Social Sciences to support joint strategic objectives of benefit to the wider university.
The postholder will be required to maintain an overview all communications and engagement activities taking place across the 5 knowledge exchange hubs, ensuring that they are coordinated, in-line with the centre guidelines and objects, and that the information is recorded.
Working closely with the CaCHE senior management team, the Communications and Engagement Officer plays a critical role supporting the centre’s wider strategic development. They manage the overall brand, build strong productive relationships with press, public affairs and policy contacts, and work to raise the profile of the centre, establishing it as the leading voice in UK housing policy.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Implement the CaCHE communication and engagement strategy. This includes internal and external communications, along with workstreams, processes and reporting.
2. Conduct regular reporting, measuring the success of communications, and adapting and improving where necessary to improve CaCHE communications and engagement activities.
3. Responsible for producing and developing content relating to CaCHE research and activities, ensuring that information on the CaCHE website and communication platforms is relevant, up to date and timely.
4. Design and deliver appropriate media to engage with a range of audiences (including academics, policy makers, press, practitioners and the public) and effectively communicate CaCHE research. This will include print, digital, video, graphics, social media, and webinars.
5. Manage the CaCHE internal communications processes, ensuring that workstreams are efficient and effective. Leading by example, communicate the importance of simplifying processes and information sharing, to ensure that all collaborators feel connected and informed.
6. Empower staff across CaCHE and at all levels to improve the way we work by providing support, training and advice on how best communicate research and engage with target audiences.
7. Build, maintain and review the CaCHE web presence, serving as the principal website editor. Ensure all updates and additions to the website are in line with the wider communications strategy and CaCHE objectives.
8. Build, manage and maintain the CaCHE social media presence across a range of platforms, and train and support colleagues across CaCHE on how to use social media effectively.
9. Oversee the development and publication of digital and print materials and content, including typesetting reports and briefings, designing/editing newsletters and flyers, and producing other bespoke materials.
