We are currently recruiting for a Senior HR Advisor to join our team on a permanent contract.

This is a stand-alone position, working with the Senior team and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The role is to initially manage the transactional HR issues, with a view to the future creating the strategic direction of HR within the business.
The role will be based in Peterlee, and is full time (part time hours will be considered). Hours of work are Monday - Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm (with flexibility as the role requires).
**The role**
- Coaching managers on performance management issues and processes.
- Managing talent and succession planning; taking overall responsibility for recruitment activity and campaigns.
- Manage complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy.
- Overseeing and scheduling employee assistance programmes and other services.
- Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees and managers.
- Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and HR policy and procedures and share best practice with them.
- Providing guidance on learning and development for managers and their teams.
- Implementing the training and development agenda; identify areas that need attention and improvement.
- Develop HR policy and procedures to drive performance and mitigate disputes.
- Drive alignment between HR and business goals.
- Participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation.
- Support change management processes.
- Deliver people management strategies in support of the organisation’s strategic aims. The role will have both a strategic and an operational focus, providing expert advice and support on all HR matters.
- Monitor all employee records to include maternity, paternity requests and absence and sickness and provide regular reports to the senior management team.
**The person**
- Substantial HR generalist background in this or a similar level.
- A relevant degree or equivalent and be CIPD qualified (or a willingness to work towards).
- Experience of recruitment up to a senior level.
- Experience of coaching and supporting line managers across a full range of HR/OD activities.
- Experience of managing complex case work including absence management, disciplinary, grievance etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information in a manner appropriate to the audience.
- Highly motivated with the ability to work unsupervised, using own initiative.
- Good influencing skills and the ability to foster and maintain successful working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to support and challenge decision making with professional integrity.
