It’s an exciting time for the charity as we opened our first ice cream café fifteen months ago, in a prime location on Park Lane in the centre of Poynton.

We’re so pleased that the local community has fully supported our launch and continues to support us.

We have a great team of employees and volunteers and as we continue to grow and expand our offering, we now need to add a new Saturday Café Assistant to the team, on a fixed term basis (March - October). This role will be expected to support the extended opening hours during the Spring and Summer months, helping to ensure the smooth running of our circa 40 cover ice cream café and will also help to cover other team members’ holidays.

The Café Assistant will work alongside the Assistant Manager and Manager to support the day-to-day running of the Just-Ice Poynton café on a Saturday and on occasion, may go out with our mobile ice cream trike for events.

One of the key aims for the charity is that we will employ survivors of modern-day slavery, giving them practical employment skills and training to help build their confidence and skillset, enabling them to move on to other roles as they become fully independent members of the community. We have a couple of survivors on the team currently and they have settled in well.

All team members play an important role in setting the culture and tone of the café, helping us to establish a Christian presence in the Poynton community and create a welcoming space where we offer locally sourced ice cream and ice cream-based treats, homemade cakes and hot and cold drinks.

This Saturday Café Assistant role would ideally suit someone who has previously held role in a commercial food environment, ideally a food/hospitality setting which is open to the public. This however is not a requirement of the role, so if you are looking for a new opportunity and do not hold previous experience, this role could still be for you.

The role holder will be friendly and outgoing, with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and will enjoy working as part of a team in the local community.

Ideally, we are looking for the role holder to start as soon as possible so they can support us at one of our busiest times as we head into summer and the school holidays.
