Senior Electronics Engineer

A vacancy has arisen for an Senior Electronics Engineer in the Systems Engineering department at the Denham site.

The position is responsible for generating a broad range of electronic design concepts in line with customer requirements and in line with the engineering specification, including associated international standards, military standards and Martin-Baker requirements.It also requires the production of commercially viable detailed electronic layouts.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Participate in design coordination activities with other disciplines and design personnel.
- Produce specifications derived from internal requirements and related documents, to provide a high level of decomposition and traceability.
- Conduct trade studies into potential engineering solutions, using hand calculations, modelling techniques and testing.
- Carry out performance calculations, using hand calculations, spreadsheets and specific software packages.
- Produce top level system schematics from which detailed parts may be developed.
- Produce a variety of detailed design and verification reports.
- Produce and present material for major milestone reviews.
- Build and test proofs of concept and oversee trial manufacture of designs.
- Develop detailed designs from top level layouts.
- Determine the best, most commercially sound solution within the given parameters whilst optimising manufacturability.
- Conduct interchangeability and obsolescence analysis.
- Mentor and audit output of more junior team members.
- Produce and maintain engineering electronic drawings.
- Plan and manage tasks and work packages, communicating status and progress to Programme Managers.
- Manage team members at a project level.

**Education & Qualifications**:

- 1st / 2:1 Electronic Engineering Degree
- Member of a recognised professional body (RAeS, IMechE, IET, etc)

**Specific / Technical Skill**
- Knowledge and experience in electronic design software
- Good problem solving/investigative skills and data analysis skills
- Highly IT literate
- Experience of the following would be beneficial:

- Expertise in OrCAD Schematic Capture and PCB Editor
- Understanding of safety critical systems

- Experience of electronic design output ideally gained from within mechanical and/or aeronautical engineering or related industry.

- Good understanding of modern manufacturing methods.
- Creation and delivery of presentation work.
- Track record of innovative designs
- General knowledge and experience of working within US MIL STD / UK Def. Stan. would be beneficial
