Environmental Test Team Lead

A vacancy has arisen for an Environmental Test Team Lead in the Environmental Test department at Denham. The purpose of this role is to support development and qualification of MBA product within Environmental Test function, leading a team of up to 5 EnvironmentalTest Engineers and initiating and undertaking tasks to improve efficiency and quality of processes within, and services provided by, the department.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Represent the test department's technical position at programme and design reviews held with both internal and external customers.
- Develop test programme plans, cost estimates, test schedules and qualification strategies in order to satisfy programme and customer requirements.
- Support preparation of test procedures including test facility selection, test design and fixture development.
- Ensure tests are conducted safely, successfully and on time in accordance with department/company procedures, H&S requirements, risk assessments and other safe working practices.
- Evaluate/interpret instrumentation data and test results, ensuring correct reduction techniques and analysis are used.
- Review and approve documentation (i.e. work instructions, procedures and reports) produced by the team.
- Provide first line support for technical enquiries from members of the immediate team.
- Plan and support test engineers' project management through PMS system to maintain work packages and achieve established milestones.
- Mentor/coach and support professional development of engineers within the team, including holding regular reviews and annual appraisals with individuals.
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required to improve the efficiency and quality of processes within, and services provided by, the department.

**Education & Qualifications**:

- 2.1 / 1st degree qualified or equivalent gained through work experience - mechanical / aeronautics engineering.

**Specific / Technical Skill**
- Thorough grounding in Health and Safety relating to test environment.
- In depth knowledge of test and measurement instrumentation. Knowledge of signal processing and analysis.
- Knowledge of Vibration and Climatic test techniques and systems.
- Extensive data analysis skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint tools.
- Use of Planisware (or similar tool) for project planning

**Knowledge & Experience**:

- Experience in conducting successful environmental tests, producing reports and analyzing technical data.
- Experience in testing and evaluation of electronic, mechanical and/or pyrotechnic components/systems.
- Familiarity with military and civilian test standards (such as MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160 & Defence Standard 00-970).
- Communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills with all levels of engineers and senior management. Able to develop links with other technical specialists within the business.
- People management: ability to develop and manage junior staff within their test engineer group.
- Project management: ability to plan and manage test programs effectively and on time.
