**Role profile**:
We are looking for a Knowledge and Information Assistant to join our Bristol office.
The principal purpose of this role is to support colleagues in the Knowledge & Information Services team - particularly the Knowledge & Information Manager - to provide a high-quality legal library service. This enables lawyers and others across the business to maximise our extensive knowledge resources, ultimately allowing our teams to deliver exceptional service to Osborne Clarke's clients.
This role offers a career path in law librarianship, with opportunities for professional growth and development within the field of legal information management.
This is permanent position based in our Bristol office with some home working. Four days will be considered.
**About the role**
You will play a crucial role in enabling the team to deliver high-quality legal library services across the firm. The key responsibilities will include:
- **Communicating with a broad network of people**: Regularly communicating with a wide network of suppliers and internal clients. This includes supporting negotiations, ordering library materials, handling requests for usage data, setting up demos, arranging training dates, and clarifying pricing information and terms of use.
- **Maintaining excellent library records**: Keeping our library records in great shape, including updates and amendments to our library catalogue, contract management system, invoice records, intranet pages, and supplier contact information.
- **Active research participation**: Playing an active role in our research service to the business, responding to requests for access to resources, company searches, case/legislation requests, and news articles.
- **Delivering current awareness**: Creating and delivering regular current awareness alerts to fee earners and others in the business.
- **Supporting library maintenance**: Supporting the updating and maintenance of our hard copy materials in the main library and team libraries.
- **Ensuring efficient library operations**:Performing any other ancillary duties that may be required to ensure the efficient creation and operation of the Library service, including a small amount of travel to our London office (roughly monthly).
**About you**
You will have a genuine interest in legal information management and a desire to build a career in law librarianship. Alongside this you will also possess:
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills, able to manage own workload with moderate supervision.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on the target audience.
- A team worker, able to establish good working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers.
- Ability to evaluate whether information is trustworthy, i.e., knowing how to establish its authenticity, accuracy, currency, value, and bias.
- Confident dealing with stakeholder/supplier relationships.
- Proficient in use of MS Office, including Excel.
- Confident and adept at using new information systems, taking ownership of own learning.
- Capable of conducting and delivering desktop research.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying up to date with the latest trends and best practices in the field.
