Yjmo/fa55 Personal Assistant Required in Strensall, York

**The job**:
This post is to provide 2:1 support for an incredibly cool and chilled chap who is 18 years old. He likes going out for a drive, and sometimes likes to do an activity like going to his favourite café Starbucks. He also likes going for walks at Allerthorpe Lake. He can say some words with a bit of encouragement, and he can understand much more than he can say. Food is the best way to his heart and his favourite treats will soon win him over. At home, he likes watching videos on his iPad and trampolining in his garden.
He has no sense of danger and cannot be left on his own. He may occasionally drop to the floor when he decides he does not want to do something. He can occasionally become angry or frustrated. This can be triggered by pain, difficulty communicating what he wants, or caused by loud noises and he has specific toys that help him to calm down.
This young man is part of a big, loving family, with 4 younger sisters and this post is to take him out on trips, and supervise him at home.
**The right person**:
Ideally, you will have been in a care giving role and have experience of supporting someone with Autism. It will be advantageous to be a qualified driver with use of a car for work purposes.
**The hours**:
A minimum of 12 hours a week, during York school holidays. The days and hours of work are flexible.
**The rates of pay and benefits**:
£12.21 per hour.
You will receive 5.6 weeks pro-rata paid holidays per year.
