**Job title: Graduate Bid Writer**

Operating on a flat structure, all employees work directly with our industry leading bid management professionals and company directors. This offers graduates accelerated development to reach their full potential as bid writers within a supportive and collaborative environment.

**Location**: EiB’s Bid Hubs are in central Edinburgh and Birmingham. We offer a flexible working model aligned to our clients’ needs and expectations. This involves working from home, our EiB Bid Hubs, or on-site at client locations throughout the UK and Europe. There is no need to relocate.

**Starting salary**:£28,000, with the opportunity to rise to £40,000 upon completion of the programme.

**What is a bid writer?**

If the government wants to electrify a rail main line, or a local authority council needs a specialist nursing service to provide children's healthcare, they will create a contract and publish a tender. This means that companies need to submit a bid demonstrating how they would deliver the contract to win the work. This will include questions like:

- What social value will you bring to the project to improve the lives of the community?
- Explain your innovations to improve the health and safety of your staff and customers?

As a bid writer at EiB, you will work with our clients to answer these questions. You will write the responses in a compelling, persuasive manner that meets the evaluation criteria and requirements of the tender. It is similar to essay writing, skills you are likely to already possess, with the reward of winning your clients work that makes a tangible difference to the world around you.

**About you**:
You will be committed to helping our clients prepare and produce the most inspiring and successful bids in the industry. You are a flexible and motivated individual driven to further develop your skills and progress within a growing company.

You have the excellent writing and editing skills needed to deliver engaging and compelling content. You have strong organisational and time management skills, able to meet client deadlines. With experience of undertaking research and multitasking, you can prioritise workload while demonstrating a high attention to detail.

**Essential skills include**:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an extensive vocabulary
- Close attention to detail with exceptional editing and proof-reading ability
- Capable presenter, able to communicate ideas and share learning
- Strong research ability with skills in analysing documents and data
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 office suite.

**Desirable skills include**:

- Knowledge of graphic production
- Use of Mac platforms and devices
- Knowledge of public procurement processes.

**The role**:
In this role you will gain experience in bid writing, research, and project management. You will support the production and creation of high-quality, engaging bid submissions to meet strict deadlines. This role includes:

- Working within a team and with clients to storyboard and write bids in line with buyer specifications
- Editing, reviewing, and challenging documents to improve and contribute to the overall submission
- Staying abreast of updates and developments within a specialist market
- Keeping up to date with bid writing competitors
- Leading and coordinating internal projects which add value to the business.

**The EiB graduate programme**:
You will complete a two-year graduate programme, led by our Professional Head of Graduate Development and supported by the wider business. Over the course of the two-year programme, you will have access to a wealth of knowledge from experts within the industry and gain valuable experience across a wide range of sectors (including highways, rail, construction and healthcare) to establish core bid writing skills. The programme will provide you with the skills and competencies required to become a bid writer, and to manage and coordinate projects.

As you progress into the second year of your graduate programme, you will have achieved the skills required to be a competent bid writer. We will further support your development by placing you on more complex bids, where you will craft compelling technical responses. Alongside your on-the-job learning, you will complete your APMP Foundation certification (after 12 months) and work towards your APMP Practitioner certification (after three years), formally recognising your ongoing professional development.
