**The Role**:
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. You will support the Senior Buyer and wider procurement function in sourcing and purchasing materials and components essential to our operations.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the procurement of steel, fittings, and other construction-related materials
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, manage lead times, and negotiate pricing
- Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with company procedures
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier information
- Support inventory management and monitor stock levels
- Help identify cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental standards

**What We’re Looking For**:

- Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within the construction or engineering sector
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar)
- Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- A proactive and team-oriented approach

**Desirable**:

- CIPS qualification (or working towards it)
- Understanding of steelwork and construction materials
