Full time, 35 hours per week. **We are happy to discuss flexible working** **Top 3 skills needed for this role**: - Clinical Coding experience - Clinical or Private medical insurance knowledge - Data Management e.g. Advanced Excel skills **What this role is all about**: As a Senior Clinical Coding Specialist in the Clinical Coding team, you will leverage your expertise in clinical coding to ensure the accurate and comprehensive coding of clinical information. This role is pivotal in supporting clinical risk management and optimising business processes throughout the Vitality Health and Life member journeys. In addition to your coding responsibilities, you will manage and oversee the clinical coding team, ensuring high standards of performance and professional development. You will also be responsible for the overall quality and accuracy of the team’s output. Furthermore, you will deputise for the Head of Clinical Coding as needed, taking on leadership duties and contributing to strategic planning and decision-making. **Key Actions** Team Management and Leadership: - Support the Head of Clinical Coding in managing the Clinical Coding Team and other senior functions. - Lead and mentor the team, including oversight and co-ordination of team activities, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. - Deputise for the Head of Clinical Coding, ensuring seamless operations and decision-making in their absence. - Represent Vitality Health at industry groups such as CCSD. Clinical Coding Expertise: - Drive the consistent and accurate use of clinical codes to ensure the correct capture of clinical information for the assessment of claims, and for robust reporting and analytics. - Support the creation and maintenance of reference data for all clinical codes used in the Health and Life businesses, in line with clinical risk management principles. - Provide second-line support to operational areas for complex queries requiring specialised coding input. - Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the clinical coding skills and knowledge within the team and the wider businesses. **What do you need to thrive?** - Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated clinical experience or understanding of disease processes and clinical treatment pathways. - Coding and Risk Management: Advanced knowledge and understanding of the role that coding of clinical information plays in clinical risk management in the UK medical and life insurance industry. - Insurance Knowledge: Excellent understanding and working experience of private medical insurance products. - Leadership Experience: Previous leadership or team management experience. - Data Expertise: Skilled in working with and analysing clinical coding data, including experience with data management tools (e.g., Excel and SQL databases) and code mapping. - Analytical Skills: Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Performance Track Record: History of excellent performance in previous roles. - Team Collaboration: Strong team player with relationship-building skills, able to motivate, enthuse and influence others. - Professional Integrity: Commitment to maintaining high professional standards. - Multitasking Ability: Effective at multitasking and prioritising activities. **So, what’s in it for you?** - Bonus Schemes - A bonus that regularly rewards you for your performance. - A pension of up to 12%- We will match your contributions up to 6% of your salary. - Our award-winning Vitality health insurance - With its own set of rewards and benefits. - Life Assurance - Four times annual salary.
