As your technical ability develops you will play an increasingly prominent role, taking the lead on aspects of the team’s work. Your work will help to promote nature-based solutions and the delivery of healthier and sustainable systems that are resilient to climate change and achieve objectives set by legislation (e.g. WFD) and policy (e.g. 25 Year Environment Plan). You will proactively engage staff across the business, communicating with colleagues internally and external stakeholders, to successfully build trusted networks and strong partnerships to maximise delivery.

The team
- The HNL biodiversity & geomorphology team is a friendly, supportive and experienced team. Mentoring and development will be offered by experienced geomorphologists within the team and there is a lot of collaborative working. You will be part of a team who: regulate compliance in planning and development, work with external partners to deliver restoration, liaise with colleagues in other parts of the business including flood and coastal risk management, asset performance engineers, and water resources.

Experience/skills required
- It is desirable that applicants possess the following:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
- Enthusiasm; a fast learner with the ability to quickly take on board and understand new concepts and technical information.
- A passion for the environment with an understanding of the basic principles of geomorphology and its importance in the function of natural riverine environments. The role will provide opportunity for this to be further developed.
- You’ll be able build trusted working relationships and communicate clearly, in order to guide and to influence what people do.

You may also have some of the following: technical geomorphology skills in fieldwork, GIS or environmental modelling; experience or knowledge about current environmental challenges and topics; experience of river and floodplain restoration.
- A full driving licence is required for this role.
