**General Facilities Assistant**
**Hours of work**: 10.00am t o 6.00pm with 1 hour unpaid for lunch
Lunch is provided during term time
**Holidays**: 5 weeks’ holiday per year plus Bank Holidays

**Main duties**:
To be responsible to the Facilities Manager for the general maintenance and development of the whole school site.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Under the direction of the Facilities Manager you will be expected to undertake daily tasks from a task sheet eg: minibus driving, empty waste bins, deliver parcels, leaf clearance, salt/grit spreading etc.
- As a member of the support staff you will be required to assist with other duties necessary for the smooth running of the school, including: setting out and clearing away of chairs etc. for lunchtimes/meetings/functions and general clearing after events.
- You will be expected to work as a team member assisting staff, such as the groundsman, gardener, caretaker and Facilities Supervisor.
- To ensure that the site is kept free of litter and debris.
- To assist with the maintenance of the swimming pool.
- To be prepared to undertake necessary training to achieve and/or maintain mandatory qualifications.
- To undertake any basic repairs in glazing, painting, plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, flooring, fencing and tiling.
- To draw to the attention of the Facilities Manager any items of repair and maintenance that require contractors to be engaged, or any health and safety issues that require urgent or immediate attention.
- To cover for other members of the Grounds/Maintenance team in the event of holiday, illness or other absence.
- To provide additional support before, after and at the time of school events, such as Open Days (including
Saturday Open Morning), Prize Giving, Fireworks Display, Sports Days, School Concerts/Productions etc. as required.
- To be prepared to attend outside normal working hours with reasonable notice for car parking duties. This is paid either as time in lieu or as overtime - mutually agreed prior to the event with the Director of
Operations. Please be aware this is not an exhaustive list of possible events.
- To understand and put into practice school policies on Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities and any reasonable request made by the Director of Operations/your line manager or the school’s senior management.
