**User Research - UX - Digital Transformation - 6 month contract - outside IR35 - Edinburgh / Glasgow hybrid working**
Are you passionate about user-centric design and are not afraid to evangelise user needs across projects?
We are seeking a Senior User Researcher to join an ongoing Digital Transformation programme, currently delivering service design for a beta stage project.
As a Senior User Researcher, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and conducting user research activities to inform and validate the design of digital services that meet the needs of our users. You will work closely with the service design team to ensure that user research insights are integrated into the design process, and that our services are designed with users in mind.
**Responsibilities**:
- Plan and conduct user research activities, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and other methods as appropriate.
- Work closely with the service design team to ensure that user research insights are integrated into the design process.
- Analyse and synthesise user research data to identify patterns and insights that inform service design decisions.
- Develop personas, user scenarios, and journey maps to communicate user needs and insights to the wider project team.
- Advocate for user needs and insights throughout the design process, and ensure that our services are designed with users in mind.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that user research insights are understood and acted upon.
- Help to develop and refine our user research methods and processes, ensuring that we are using best practices and keeping up-to-date with the latest research techniques and tools.
- Mentor and coach junior members of the user research team.
**Requirements**:
- Proven background conducting user research for digital services, ideally within the Public Sector.
- Solid skills in planning and conducting a variety of user research methods, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and other methods as appropriate.
- Experience working in an agile development environment, and collaborating with service design and development teams.
- Experience of customer journey mapping as well as analysing and synthesising user research data to identify patterns and insights that inform design decisions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex user research insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A passion for user-centered design, and a commitment to creating services that meet the needs of users.
- Excellent knowledge of WCAG standards and principles
- Experience with Axure RP, Sketch, Hotjar, Google Analytics or similar tools would also be beneficial
