**About the Team**
Bath and North East Somerset Council (B&NES) is looking to recruit a skilled Digital Project Officer to support the delivery of our ambitions plans to improve digital connectivity and inclusion within the district.
These are exciting and transformative times in B&NES, with a recently adopted West of England Digital Plan and B&NES Economic Strategy providing the blueprint for digital growth. This role will support delivery of the Digital Plan, in partnership with the West of England Combined Authority and neighbouring local authorities.
**About the Role**
The role itself consists of a variety of activities including management of existing digital networks, securing either private or public funding in new digital infrastructure, supporting projects around digital skills and inclusion, as well as building relationships with organisations including mobile telecoms and broadband providers.
**About You**
We are looking for a professional responsible for implementing strategies and championing B&NES as a place to invest, driving digital growth within Bath and North East Somerset.
**The postholder would be expected to**:
- Be the primary point of contact for mobile and broadband providers wishing to invest in B&NES
- Manage and grow our existing digital infrastructure assets, including WiFi and standalone 5G
- Represent B&NES at local and regional meetings on the West of England Digital Plan and digital elements of the B&NES Economic Strategy
- Identify opportunities to secure investment and assist in the preparation of funding bids
- Monitor and report on progress against key metrics, including gigabit and superfast broadband coverage, mobile coverage and capacity, plus digital inclusion
- Support residents and businesses currently facing digital exclusion
**The following knowledge and experience is desirable**:
- Knowledge of the digital sector and current landscape, including key infrastructure projects and strategies in place both regionally and nationally
- Experience of either managing or leading elements of digital projects, either in the public or private sector
- Experience in preparing and updating relevant project management documents, to include budgets, risk logs, highlight reports, outline business cases and monitoring and evaluation reports
- Applicants will have the authority and credibility to build relationships and engage successfully with relevant colleagues, external organisations and our residents and businesses
- Applicants will need to have good problem-solving skills and will need excellent ICT, verbal, written and numeracy skills
- The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and remotely with a minimum 2 days in the office or working with partners.
