**About the Team**

The Council are seeking to recruit an Employment and Skills Officer to cover a sabbatical.

The primary purpose of this post is to lead on the development and implementation of projects which aim to promote employment & skills programmes and partnerships.

Our teams focus is around sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Bath & North East Somerset. We want our residents and businesses to thrive, and your role is to facilitate and support this.

**About the Role**

The role will require working within a team, across departments with colleagues across the Bath and North East Somerset council as well as building and maintaining relationships with our partners such as West of England Combined Authority.

The postholder would be expected, amongst other duties:

- Develop and undertake a structured business support and advice service, delivering skills and employment solutions for B&NES businesses helping to solve issues the businesses are facing with the aim of increasing business and employment growth.
- Manage and maintain the Achieve in B&NES brand including the website, newsletter and X (aka Twitter), working with comms and marketing officers where appropriate
- Continue to maintain existing and create new relationships with partners and providers in the B&NES area to develop the skills and training landscape within B&NES
- To undertake regular dialogue with partners, businesses and the business community in B&NES to provide advice and receive feedback about the Council’s approach and activities.
- To support the development and undertake initiatives, projects and events to improve the skills and business climate, productivity and growth in B&NES.
- To identify, design and develop additional activities that the Council may support in developing local economic growth and change.

**About You**

Applicants should have operational and budget experience. Ideally experienced with project management. Applicants will have the authority and credibility to build relationships and engage successfully with service users, colleagues, external organisations and employers.

Applicants will need to have excellent problem-solving skills and will need excellent verbal, written and numeracy and ICT skills.
