- Job description- We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with good planning, communication and data handling skills to help plan and deliver multi-functional environmental benefits, with the primary focus on Water Quality.
You will support our water quality workload, having the opportunity to get involved in a number of exciting and new initiatives to protect the health of our rivers.
You’ll also be supplying information and advice to customers and responding to a variety of consultations from both internal and external sources.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The role will be based either in our Brampton or Ipswich office, but we do offer a flexible hybrid model that allows people the choice to work at offices or home to suit the needs of both individuals and the business. However, we do ask that individuals attend their base location once a week.
The team- You will join the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team, containing specialists in water resources, water quality and catchment planning, working across the East Anglia Area.
We are a team of friendly, supportive and experienced advisors central to environmental decision making. We work with internal and external partners to collate, analyse and share data, providing the environmental evidence to inform our Area’s priorities, and to deliver actions that maximise benefits for people and the natural environment.
- Experience/skills required- Ideally qualified to degree level, preferably in an environmental discipline and/or have relevant experience in the following areas:

- Essential:

Awareness of water quality legislation and understanding of the current pressures facing water quality in East Anglia;
Good communication/influencing skills - You should be able to produce clear/persuasive written material and brief colleagues and customers face-to-face.
Customer focus - sensitive to the needs of internal and external customers.
Good research/analysis skills, supporting an ability to make proportionate, evidence-based decisions from information. Ideally experience with mapping software would be beneficial.
Able to work under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross functional team.
Good organisational skills with the ability to plan, track, and deliver to set timescales.
Experience of gathering, maintaining, presenting and quality-assuring data/information.
Able to offer professional support to working groups and organise/facilitate effective meetings.
Desirable:

Experience of working in water quality, however training will be provided.
