Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting a **Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Consultant** to join our existing LCA team..

This role would be focused on delivering commercial LCA consultancy, with a strong bias towards creating standards and methodologies. LCA studies would be undertaken using OpenLCA, following the principles of ISO 14040/44.

The work would involve drafting and publishing scientific papers in peer reviewed journals, presenting data at international conferences, creating new methodologies and frameworks, and occasional international travel.

**Responsibilities will include -**
- Undertaking Life Cycle Assessments for commercial Life Cycle Assessment projects
- Writing of ISO compliant LCA studies
- Creating ISO compliant industry specific LCA methodologies and carbon accounting methodologies
- Respond to tenders and write proposals
- Supporting the writing of funding bids
- Staying up to date with the latest literature on microalgae production LCA
- Writing of scientific papers
- Presenting at LCA conferences
- Take responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of proposals and quotations
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures and contribute to the continual development and refinement of the Narec DE management system.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline

**Essential Skills & Attributes -**
- A genuine interest in the low carbon economy and sustainability
- Knowledge of LCA
- Knowledge of complex LCA industry specific methodologies (such as the carbon capture LCA4CCU methodology)
- Ability to write peer reviewed scientific articles
- Ability to draw detailed process flows for production systems
- Well organised and methodical, with very strong attention to detail
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage challenging situations
- High level of computer literacy
- Proactive and flexible approach to work
- Computer modelling
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel
- Writing technical reports and proposals to required standards
- Undertaking site visits of various types of production facilities
- Energy monitoring
- Managing projects to time, quality & cost

**Desirable Skills & Attributes -**
- MSc with LCA related studies
- Experience of creating ISO 14040/14044 compliant LCA studies
- Experience of OpenLCA
- Experience of creating methodologies for LCA
- Understanding of the detailed physics of climate change
- Programming in Python
- Understanding of ISO 14040/44, the ILCD handbook, and LCA in general
- Knowledge of microalgae production systems
- Programming in Python
