**Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;**
**To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works.**

***

**Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;**
**To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate.**

**Formal qualifications required;**
**Preferable**:
**Good general education**
**NVQ Level 2 in Highways Maintenance or relevant skill NVQ**
**LGV licence beneficial**
**Current driving licence (essential)**
**CSCS card if client requirement**
**NRSWA**
**Relevant TM 12D**
***

**Skills required;**
**Preferable**:
**Basic IT**
**To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work**
**To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification**
**Specialist Skills**:
**Use a range of power tools and equipment**
**Use of PDA as required**
**Able to carry out basic safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessment**
**Able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification**
**Able to take responsibility for traffic management**
**Able to give clear basic instructions**

**Experience required;**
**Generally hold 12 months+ experience**
**Preferable experience, but training can be provided**:
