Overview

The College is committed to supporting research, impact and engagement activities across the three Schools and also to the number of Research Centres within the College with the aim of raising research profiles, attracting grant funding and creating impact, so benefiting the local, national and international community. The College is also in the process of developing its Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities, working closely with local businesses and employers.

Purpose of the Job

To provide administrative support to key role holders in the College (College and School Directors of Research and Postgraduate Research). To support a range of administrative activities associated with research, including postgraduate research students, research impact activities and CPD activities within the College and its constituent Schools.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide administrative support to the College Directors of Research Centres and Postgraduate Research in the conduct of their college roles, and support the School Directors of Research, Impact & Engagement and Heads of Research Centres.
- Act as secretary to college and school level committees and meetings. Organising meetings, drafting agendas, preparing papers, taking minutes and circulating papers as appropriate.
- Arranging events such as postgraduate research student welcome/induction and PGR conferences, research away days.
- Develop and maintain systems and databases for recording of information related to research, postgraduate research and research impact.
- Work with Finance to support PIs to monitor project budgets.
- Support the College Manager to process employment opportunities and contracts as a result of research and project awards.
- Liaise with central services to ensure awareness of correct processes and procedures and advise staff as necessary.
- Work closely with the College Ethics Lead to support the Ethics process.
- Provide administrative support for academic colleagues developing CPD opportunities in the College.
- To communicate effectively with both staff and students and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues within the University, and any external body.
- To work across functional team boundaries as part of a larger College administrative team to ensure that core support services are maintained, particularly during holidays and absence and at peak times of activity.
- Supporting PGR-related administrative activities devolved to the College

**Responsibilities**:

- The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.

- Essential- Desirable- A business administration or related qualification.

Experience/Knowledge
- Essential- Experience of working within an office /administrative environment.
- Experience of organising meetings and minute taking.
- Experience of using Teams and OneDrive.
- Desirable- Experience of working within a Higher Education environment.
- Experience of working with databases.
- Experience of working in a similar administrative role.
- Understanding of research and the research environment in Higher Education.
- Understanding of postgraduate research student support.
- Experience of providing administrative support to staff and/or students.
