Employment Policy Adviser
My client, a membership organisation that supports and advises HR teams and senior managers on employment policy and practice including pay, pensions and other broader workforce matters, now has an exciting and unusual opportunity for a talented individual with an HR background and a sound knowledge of employment law to join them on a permanent basis.
As Employment Policy Adviser you will work as part of a small team that plays a key role in the delivery of advisory services to key stakeholders, including HR Directors, Deputy Directors and Heads of Employee Relations. Working across a range of HR policy areas you will develop and deliver high-quality services and materials, such as advisory briefings, guidance and updates and content for seminars, as well as representing members and responding on their behalf to external agencies and government on key employment issues.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR practitioner with a proven background in a generalist HR advisory, ER advisory or workforce policy development role and advising across a range of HR policy areas, to gain significant exposure to senior HR leaders across the UK Higher Education sector, whilst working on and supporting a range of strategic projects and initiatives at a national level. In addition to the aforementioned HR knowledge and experience, to be successful you will require excellent relationship building skills and strong analytical and written communication skills, along with the ability to research new policy areas and developments employment law. The ability to prioritise and deliver a complex and varied workload together with a curious nature and willingness and interest to learn is also required. Experience of working in the Higher Education sector and/or an employers’ organisation would be highly desirable.
The post is offered on a part-time, 0.6FTE to 0.8 FTE basis and it is anticipated that this would be three or four days per week, although flexible options can be discussed. My client operates a hybrid working policy which involves a mixture of working typically one day per week at the central London offices and remotely for the rest of the week. Employees may also choose to work more regularly in the office. In return you can look forward to joining a supportive and friendly team and receiving a competitive salary package including generous annual leave entitlement and significant employer pension contributions.
