Employment Policy Adviser

The Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) is a membership organisation that supports and advises university HR teams and senior managers on employment policy and practice including pay, pensions and other broader workforce matters.
We are looking for an exceptional, talented individual who wants to work at a national level, joining UCEA’s team to support the delivery of our employment advisory services to the UK’s universities.
This is an exciting and unusual opportunity, affording the opportunity to learn and work across a number of HR policy areas, and to have an impact by supporting our 174 members (between them employing around 400,000 people) during a period of continuing change and challenge for UK higher education. The role is to work with colleagues in the small UCEA team, and with stakeholders and partners beyond, to deliver a range of high-quality services and support to member HE employers across the UK. The post holder will develop and deliver a range of materials and services, such as advisory briefings and contribute to the development of content for seminars, and will proactively support important UCEA committees and groups. They will also build member relationships and, acting on members’ behalf, represent them and respond on key employment issues facing the sector.
The postholder will have effective analytical and communication skills and the ability to prioritise and deliver a varied workload. The ability to write well is a key requirement as they will be responsible for writing regular updates, briefings, and guidance as well as responding to members’ queries and preparing, with support, responses to various agencies and government. They will also develop their own profile through attending and contributing at UCEA meetings and events.
UCEA operates a hybrid working policy which involves a mixture of working at our offices in Bloomsbury, central London, and the opportunity to work remotely each week. Employees may also choose to work more regularly in the office.
If you think this role could be for you, please download the applicant pack or visit the UCEA website for further information.
Please indicate, when applying, if there are any dates in August when you would not be available for interview. This is for our planning purposes only and would not influence short-listing decisions.
