**Job description**:
The SATCOM Programme is responsible for the sustainment and development of the MOD's strategic, worldwide satellite-based communications capability.

SKYNET 6A is the UK’s next military communications satellite. The project team procuring this satellite sits within the SATCOM Delivery Team based in Corsham. SKYNET 6A is being procured from Airbus Defence and Space via a contract that was placed in 2020 to meet an In-Service Date of 2026.

The Senior Security Officer will work within the programme’s security team.

Their primary function will be to facilitate the delivery of security artifacts across multiple Programme workstreams, Lead the transition from traditional Accreditation to Secure by Design and Manage the overall Assurance process.

The team are responsible for the formal Security Assurance of SATCOM services in-line with the Secure By Design Principles, so that they can be operated by the armed forces, requiring pro-active risk management across key multiple stakeholders (Space Command, Front Line Commands, NCSC National Technical Authority, Cyber Defence and Risk (CyDR).

The Security Team are tasked with supporting all current and future SATCOM services, ensuring the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of each service. They provide an oversight on a complex set of security requirements delivered via multiple suppliers; requiring effective governance, review and audit capabilities to ensure that all aspects of security (Physical, Procedural, Personnel and Technical) are in place, both internally and with service suppliers.

**Responsibilities**
- Governance activities, including long term continuous improvement activities.
- Assurance and Risk management activities, including the management of risk registers and risk reviews.
- Security accreditation activities, supporting the Security and Assurance Technical Lead.
- Development, deployment, and management of an effective Information Security management System.
- SATCOM security audit activities, including scheduling, scoping and execution of audits.
- Programme Management, ensuring procurement milestones have the necessary security input for new contract.
- Effective and pro-active security stakeholder management (Space Command, Front Line Commands, NCSC National Technical Authority, CyDR).
- Maintaining the Project User Requirement Document (URD), System Requirement Document (SRD), Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance matrix and develop the requirements.
