This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
On behalf of the Head of Architecture, leading determination, and implementation of best practice architectures for Workplace Services, End User Services and Hosting Services across Defence.
The successful applicant will set the technology direction, target architecture, roadmaps, technical policies and standards to drive coherence in these areas across Defence for all security classification. They will also ensure these are coherent with other areas of the enterprise architecture including realising Defence’s strategic goals.
This role requires experience of setting the Technical Strategy and Target Architecture for Workplace Services, End User Services and Hosting Services in a very large corporate environment with over 200,000 users. This will include workplace productivity, collaboration, Documents and Records Management technologies, communication services, instant and formal messaging, Voice and Video, Power automation tools and workflow. End-user service will cover the full delivery and management of Laptops, Tablets and Mobile devices including Windows, Apple and Android formats. Exploiting public and private cloud services incorporating existing hosting requirements which will form up a Hybrid ecosystem.
**Responsibilities**:
The Defence Digital Enterprise Architects are leaders working across different levels within an organisation to translate the business strategy into business change and Digital and IT technical delivery. They are responsible for:
- Identifying priorities for change to enable Digital delivery at pace across Defence.
- Leading and influencing the delivery of technologies enabling cross-cutting capabilities that enable change
- Ownership of enterprise architecture vision, strategy and roadmaps from a business, technology and data perspective, including ‘as-is’, ‘to-be’ and transitional states. Consulting and facilitating collaboration across the business
- Understanding the organisation’s ecosystem and its inter-dependencies, including reference architectures
- Taking a strategic view across all architectural domains, portfolios and programmes
- Guiding the organisation to make the appropriate business, technology and data decisions, by promoting reuse, sustainability and scalability, to achieve value for money and reduce risk
- Establishing architectural principles, policies, patterns and standards.
- Collaborating and consulting with stakeholders across MOD, Government and Partners to assure business, technology and data decisions are aligned with EA strategy
- Developing the architecture community
- Carrying out horizon scanning across industry, identifying emerging trends and their potential impact and opportunity for the organisation
