In a varied role, the postholder will form part of our small estates team but able to work on his or her own initiative. Experience of a similar role is desirable as is a trade qualification.
The role is 40 hours per week all year round, with 20 days’ holiday per year plus bank holidays. Occasional weekend cover may be required.

The role of Caretaker is extremely varied; however, the main purpose is to ensure our school is presented and maintained to an excellent standard. With a focus on cleaning and maintenance, you will be responsible for weekly schedules, covering areas in the nursery, school, pool area and school vehicles. In addition to these responsibilities, you will need to have a flexible approach to help with a variety of other tasks
- these can include, but are not limited to general maintenance, decorating, driving our children to events, picking up supplies for the Estates team and supporting the wider team with jobs that arise. Due to the nature of the role, a degree of physical fitness is required.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE PERSON /CARETAKER- LIVE IN POSITION**

**REPORTS TO: ESTATES MANAGER**
**1. OVERVIEW**
The responsibilities of the role are varied and will include cleaning and maintaining excellent standards within the school. This includes cleaning of our offices within our main manor house as well as covering for cleaners within school holidays. You will provide general support to the estates team to carry out various tasks that may include general maintenance, Health and Safety checks, security, and driving. This role provides a great first step into an Estates career and would be ideally suited to someone who is passionate about standards. We are looking for someone who is proactive and positive. We have a very experienced and skilled Estates team and there are plenty of opportunities to work alongside the team to learn new skills.
**2. TERMS SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE**
The hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (10am-6.30pm). Occasional weekends and evening security may be required and time off in lieu will be given for this. These hours may vary during holiday weeks.
You will be enrolled into the school’s support staff pension scheme and will be entitled to lunches (weekdays) and tea/coffee throughout the school day. Use of the school’s facilities, including the swimming pool are on offer where available.
**3. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
**CLEANING**
- To maintain good hygiene and cleanliness on site (buildings & grounds).
- Cleaning of school vehicles.
**4. MAINTENANCE**
- Supporting the Estates team to carry out general basic maintenance.
**5. SECURITY & SAFETY**
- Providing some security such as unlocking and locking up
- Fire marshal duties that will include being part of the fire monitoring team if the fire alarm sounds.
**6. OTHER**
- Assistance with basic grounds maintenance and general upkeep where required.
- Stewarding - setting up for functions, eg Speech Day, events and residential courses
- Occasional minibus driving for sports matches, pupil transfers etc
