**Data Centre Engineer
Location - Glasgow
6 Months Contract
£465 per day via umbrella company**
**Key responsibilities**:

- Manage incoming work requests including hardware installation, cabling, decommissioning and disposal
- Manage incidents and return-to-service in accordance with SLAs and OLAs
- Manage workflow in accordance with SLAs and OLAs
- Manage and maintain storage and inventory as and when required
- Maintain records and drawings as and when required
- Familiarity of Data Centre Best Practice
- Power management - 3 phase, phase balancing.
- Capacity management (space, power and cooling)
- DC Security - PTW management and access systems
- Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities for improvement in energy performance
- Asset management of DC infrastructure
- Installation and commissioning of new server/network/storage equipment, hardware swap-outs and component replacements.
- Working with project implementation teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of newly delivered facilities.
- Deputise for Data Centre Engineer as and when required

**The following skills and experience are required or preferable for this role**:

- A comprehensive understanding of the fundamental hardware components of an Enterprise IT architecture
- IMAC - including structured cabling and network interconnect patching
- Fundamentals of CAT6a and OM4 structured cabling architecture
- Fundamentals of electrical power and the ability to perform basic calculations
- Monitoring and Alerting - Environment and power
- Familiar with Air flow Management
- Familiar with Energy Use Systems
- Familiar with Power Systems
- Preferable - Industry recognised certification e.g., CDCTP or CDCDP
- Preferable - Data Centre Technician/Engineering background
- Preferable - Cisco Switching and Routing background
- Preferable - Familiar with SLC's IT infrastructure
