Buyer

A leading manufacturing business based in Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Buyer who will be working in the Purchasing Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the business is adequately supplied with the materials, supplies and equipment necessary to support the manufacturing and the wider business functions.

You must be able to drive down costs whilst maintaining excellent service levels and quality standards. The role will involve liaison & interaction with all functions across the business and also with external suppliers

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain records that meet the requirements of the Quality Management System and manage quarterly audits by professional bodies
- Liaise with Planning on regular basis to receive updates on stock supply issues, planned demand volumes required for Supplier negotiations and performance reviews
- Lead cost reduction projects to ensure material cost reduction targets are met
- Manage the control of supplier selection process to ensure the most competitive, reliable, and quality assured sources are established
- Work with wider purchasing team & internal specialists, suppliers to ensure compatibility
- Focus on continuous improvement of supply
- Completing objectives and KPI’s set by the Management team against business requirements
- Support the wider purchasing team by contributing to decisions on building relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and participate in negotiations
- Regular communication with suppliers for market update conditions ensuring ongoing short and mid-term supply
- Manage supplier development and audits, monitor supplier quality and delivery performance addressing failures on service levels
- Support team members and colleagues to maintain excellent standards of service across the business to ensure Company targets are met
- Work effectively within the business to assist continuous improved solutions
- Prioritise workload to enable cover for short-term absence/holidays of other Purchasing team members
- Build cross-functional team relationships in order confidently communicate & support information whether positive or negative

**Requirements**:

- A level qualified or equivalent
- CIPS Qualification
- Previous purchasing experience in similar like role
- Proven experience of working on tenders, contracts
- Expediting skills
- Full understanding and working knowledge of Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Understanding of ERP/MRP systems
- Capable of managing large data files, forecast data
- Strong analytical, negotiating & presentation skills
- Degree Business /Supply Chain - Desirable
- Previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment - Desirable
- Cost analysis skills - Desirable
- Business Administration and/or Supply Chain experience - Desirable

**Working hours: Monday - Thursday 08:30am - 17:00pm - Friday 08:30am - 14:30pm**
