**The role**

As a Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As a member of our Devonport Central Operational Team, you will be assisting in the ongoing industrial support of the Navy relating to new aircraft carriers, surface combatants and submarines, and infrastructure.

Day to day, you will support the company and provide support to the Babcock Supply Chain in the provision of Goods and / or Services.
- Carry out sourcing and supplier allocation activities
- Managing supplier order books
- Conducting supplier performance & relationship management
- Managing system dates to ensure project timelines are met
- Supporting programme improvement plans.
- Coordination with operational procurement team to ensure project requirements are executed on time.
- Contribute to dept KPI and risk metrics and value plan through supply chain initiatives

**Essential experience of the Buyer,**
- Previous experience as a Buyer within a procurement function (essential)
- Experience with ERP systems - SAP, Ariba, Jaeger, IFS, etc (highly desirable)
- GCSE Maths and English Language - grade C / 5

This role is 37 hours per week. There is a hybrid working arrangement of x2-3 on-site per week, with the remaining days to be completed from home.

**Qualifications for the Buyer,**
- CIPS Level 4 qualified or desire to work towards
- A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience
