We have an exciting opportunity for a newly created post for a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner / Duty Lead Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse to join the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

You will lead the duty function of the CMHT and act as the key link with Community Mental Health Framework hubs, building a good working relationship to develop the service and support joint working with triage, assessment and complex casework in line with the Trust and team vision.

As a senior clinician within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, you will act as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating high level of practice/knowledge to include advanced mental health assessment and leadership skills. You will act as a role model, health care provider, educator, clinical advocate, and implementer of clinical governance which you will use to guide and supervise other members of the team.

Day to day, you will lead the team in skilled triage of referrals and prioritisation of urgent clinical need. You will be the key contact with the CMHF hubs, supporting triage processes and ensuring patients have smooth transitions when they access mental health support.

The post holder will carry a small, defined complex case load and will be required to undertake urgent assessments and supervise and support other clinicians to do so. The post holder will also provide home treatment for patients experiencing a mental health crisis.

We cover the geographical area of North and West Oxfordshire, with team bases in Banbury, Witney and Chipping Norton. The MDT is made up of Medical, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Psychology colleagues and we highly regard one another's professional background and contribution to the care of our patients. We view supervision as fundamental to the functioning of the team both clinically and in terms of the wellbeing of our staff.

The team’s primary base is at The Elms Centre, Banbury. Core working hours are Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Out-of-hours support services are managed via a team rota. Staff will be expected to work on this rota which includes occasional weekend 09:00-17:00 shifts and evening shifts in the week between 17:00-20:00.
