We are looking for someone with the following **experience/qualifications**:
- Basic literate and numerate ability
- Physical ability to work manually, safely and at the required pace
- Wood machining experience
- Timber knowledge
- Understanding of the specific characteristics and behaviours of different timber species
The hours of work are **7:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 12:00 on alternate Saturdays**
You will report to **The Branch Management Team**
As a **Machinist/yard sales assistant **your primary **responsibilities** would be:
- To execute the branch’s machining tasks and in particular the more specialist types, always ensuring a high level of finished product is achieved, and to deadline, working from dimension-based drawings and written descriptions
- To share responsibility for the overall housekeeping in the Mill
- To ensure all machines and components are kept in good order through regular maintenance and cleaning
- Advising the sales team on achievable lead times, machining capabilities, and limitations
- Timely and accurate machine checks
- Helping with the mentoring, coaching and supervision of new starters on machine use
- Yard housekeeping and general duties as required
