The Clinical Neurophysiology Department at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a motivated individual to join us as a Healthcare Science Assistant Apprentice.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic person to kick start their career within a specialised Women’s and Children’s Trust and to begin a journey which will provide an exciting and fulfilling career pathway supporting the provision of a clinical neurophysiology service to children, young people and their families.

This is a clinical and administrative role and you will undertake an apprenticeship whilst working alongside clerical workers, registered professionals and medical staff. Apprentices play a vital role in the smooth running of the Trust. We have a dedicated team who will support you in your apprenticeship programme. They will work closely with you and your manager to provide a comprehensive development plan detailing your objectives and workplace goals.

You will be employed on a 15 month fixed term training contract of 37.5 hours per week at agenda for change band 2 salary with the opportunity to progress into a full time permanent role upon completion of your apprenticeship. You will be given time during your working hours for study towards the apprenticeship to attend training sessions on the underpinning knowledge of procedures and policies that impact on the role. The job of a Healthcare Assistant can be a physical one and successful apprentices will be expected to move equipment etc.

You will also be entitled to a generous Annual Leave of 27 days in addition to 8 days public holidays. As an NHS employee you will be eligible to many discounts offered my online and high street retailers.

Our Scientist, Medical and Administration team are expected to be friendly, caring and sensitive with the confidence to communicate with patients and healthcare professional colleagues. A mature and professional outlook is essential.
