We are recruiting for people to work in our operational delivery area, to fill Decision Maker and Team Leader roles.
We employaround 300 people and are based in Glasgow city centre, with excellent transport links. We are a small, engaged, productive workforce with a real sense of corporate community. We want to keep improving our services and the way we work to best serve the public, meet new challenges, deliver value for money and ensure CICA is a great place to work.
These positions are based at Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, Alexander Bain House, Glasgow, G2 8JQ. We are currently operating a hybrid working business model, where a typical employee works 2-3 days a week in the office and the remainder from home.
**The Role**
Executive Officer roles require a strong commitment to delivering personal and team objectives linked to our Business Plan. They also require strong interpersonal skills, to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and possibly external stakeholders. We are looking for people who can show empathy, humanity and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
Team Leader roles will involve demonstrating strong leadership, engaging with team members to continuously improve service and achieve operational performance measures.
**Decision Maker key responsibilities**
- Operate as part of a team focused on agreed goals and priorities and work flexibly to achieve collective commitments.
- Work with multiple sources of information and decide complex compensation claims based on the available evidence and provisions of the compensation scheme.
- Prepare letters advising applicants or representatives of the outcome of claims in a manner that shows compassion, empathy and sensitivity to the victim’s experience.
- Build capacity by through active participation in one-to-one performance discussions, learning from common errors and line manager checks of your work.
- Provide advice to case working teams regarding the gathering of evidence necessary to decide on claims.
- Keep up with technical and legislative developments and regulations and disseminate this as required.
**Team Leader key responsibilities**
- Operate as part of a team focused on agreed goals and priorities and work flexibly to achieve collective commitments.
- Control workflows to ensure claims move forward to an outcome without delay and business objectives and key performance indicators are met.
- Analyse products and processes including MI to identify areas for attention, resolving issues and making suggestions for improvement.
- Complete quality checks that assure the financial and procedural accuracy of work completed by direct line reports.
- Build individual and team capability through one-to-one performance discussions, confidently addressing risks to performance by supporting colleagues to learn and improve.
- By embedding the Civil Service Leadership statement, line managers will also be responsible for taking ownership and addressing issues of concern such as attendance management and misconduct in a proactive, sensitive and timely manner following MoJ HR policies and procedures.
**Essential criteria**
- Excellent numerical, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to self-manage, plan and prioritise.
- Ability to review extensive and complex information, swiftly identifying the relevant facts and issues.
- Excellent analysis and investigative skills requiring a strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Highly focused on customer outcomes with a strong personal commitment to supporting the business in achieving its goals in a changing environment.
**Desirable criteria**
- Experience in handling complex casework and decision making.
- Experience of working with legal documents and/or statutory regulations.
- Line management experience.
- Good working knowledge of excel.
**Selection Process**
