**About the Job**
As Payroll Improvement Manager you will be responsible for the end to end payroll technical support and development of all aspects of the payroll cycle. Reviewing current system capability and seeking ways to improve core processes and embed best practice. You will also support in the development and expansion of the current payroll solution and work closely with the Payroll Director and Head of HR People Services to support and where applicable take the lead on Continuous Improvement activity.
**As part of your key responsibilities you'll**:
- Support the Payroll Manager in monitoring relevant regulations and internal policies ensuring the system is compliant
- Work alongside the Payroll Manager and Payroll team to train and update
- Maintain current payroll system requirements and work with the systems team to ensure the Dayforce software is developed in line with legislation updates
- Maintain relationship with current Payroll supplier, review support cases and updates
- Support Payroll Director and Head of HR People Services to monitor KPIs including utilising Unipart Way tools to seek opportunity for process improvement
- Work alongside the Payroll Director and Head of HR People Services to support with TUPE activity
- Think and act ahead, spot opportunities and act accordingly and proactively contribute to process improvements
- Support the Payroll Manager in ensuring critical payroll processes are delivered in accordance with internal timetables, including collation and checking
- Keep up to date with company pensions processes including Auto Enrolment Regulations
- Support the Payroll Manager in the completion of Office of National Statistics reports accurately and on time
- Maintain current process for gender pay reporting but working with the systems team to develop a more automated process
- Liaise with auditors and all the relevant bodies to provide information for the statutory accounts and client audits
- Cover for Payroll Manager as and when required
**About You**
- Significant experience in the systems requirements in payroll and a strong working knowledge of payroll and associated systems including benefits, workforce management and tax
- Great communication skills - the ability to interact with customers and colleagues in HR, IT and line management
- Fully conversant with year-end processes such as P60, P11d and PSA and proven experience of managing year end processes
- Critical thinking skills to resolve complex problems
- Excellent customer service skills supported by good commercial understanding
- Proven experience in process improvement and managing continuous improvement projects
- Target oriented - with a desire to exceed expectations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously - effective time management and organisational skills
- Experience of working a fast paced environment
