What it's like to work here Berrington Hall is a Neo-Classical mansion built in the late 18th Century. The mansion boasts delicate interiors with beautifully decorated ceilings and fine furniture. In recent years the property has built a reputation for thedisplay of contemporary art projects, both inside the mansion and on the wider property.

This is an exciting time to join the house and collections team as we are about to embark on a conservation management plan for the mansion and courtyard buildings. We hope that this will lead on to a curatorial review of the mansion and the collectionsdisplayed and stored within it.

What you'll be doing You’ll be responsible for the daily opening of the house, ensuring appropriate resources are in place to be able to provide a consistently excellent service for our visitors. Working with a team of Collection Assistants, you'll supervise the team responsiblefor implementing conservation routines, preventive conservation and annual deep cleaning programme within the house to ensure excellent standards of care, delivering strategies to improve conservation.

You'll collect and record information during housekeeping cleaning routines to inform our understanding of the house and the collection, and use preventive conservation techniques to improve how we conserve, interpret and present the property. You’ll enjoytelling visitors about our fascinating history, sharing tales from the past as well as your personal experience of working here.

Who we're looking for You'll need to have the following experience:

- You’ll have experience in relevant field and / or operational experience in Historic Properties
- People management skills including rota planning and working with and managing volunteers
- Some knowledge of managing budgets and finance
- Knowledge of visitor experience principles and approaches to optimising visitor engagement andenjoyment
- Flexible, energetic and a good team player
