Our client, a technical consultancy based in North Cambridge, is looking for a Project Technician to join their team. Working in the laboratories you will contribute and work on multiple projects as a key team member involved in building prototypes, testrigs and running experiments. This role would be perfect for somebody at a graduate level; who is proactive and keen to learn new skills across a broad range of capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity, with multiple opportunities and avenues for yourown career progression within the business.

The Project Technician will take responsibility for the operation of our client’s product development workspaces, including looking after the facility and training colleagues to operate equipment (including digital microscopes, high speed cameras, tensiometers,environmental test chambers and HPLC etc.) The Project Technician will need to be someone interested in, or with experience in, planning, executing, and writing up experiments in collaboration with other project team members.

The role includes working closely with engineers and scientists, ensuring the facility is used efficiently and safely, as well as involvement in good experimental practice when required. Experience in identifying, understanding, and managing potential labhazards is advantageous, including hazardous chemicals, drugs, compressed gasses, cryogens, electrical hazards etc.
- Qualified with relevant A Levels and/or HNC, OND or similar in a technical discipline. (GCE/GCSE’s only will be considered when you can demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role)
- Knowledge and demonstrable experience in supporting the management of health and safety in laboratories
- Able to work with tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of output
- Highly creative and dexterous - You will be involved in the assembly of prototype products and lab test rigs that include electrical systems
- Passionate in at least one area within technology, engineering, and science
- Willingness to work closely with engineers and designers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Positive attitude to working in teams and ability to work on own initiative
- Eager to learn new methods and techniques and a flexible approach to work
- Ideally have working experience of at least some of the following: tensiometers, dimensional measurement systems, high speed cameras, oscilloscopes and dataloggers.
