Community Organiser Volunteer, Newcastle Based

**We are looking for volunteers to bring local communities together **to campaign and to champion activism locally**.
Within your local area, you will be responsible for engaging with people with a learning disability and their families, and with local organisations and charities to identify what needs to change and to work toward this. You may already have an idea of what you want to campaign on and how it affects people with a learning disability.
You will be coached by a Mencap Activism coach, you will identify what you need to do and how you need to do it. You will ensure that local people are actively involved in the campaign and have ownership of what you are working toward.
**The campaign can be anything that local people with a learning disability and their families feel is needed. For example, healthcare, transport, social inclusion or employment opportunities.**

As well as leading a local campaign, as time passes and your knowledge grows, you will champion people to campaign on other issues and support other activists through a community organisational approach.
