SDR Care is a growing business with care homes situated on the South Coast. We pride ourselves on investing in our people. We are committed to the UK Living Wage Foundation; we train and develop our staff to enable them to reach their full potential and we are a collaborative and supportive team.
An exciting opportunity exists to join our new team of Senior Support Workers (Complex Needs) at our brand new home Hailsham. The home will specialise in person-centred care of people with learning difficulties and autism.
Applicants will ideally have experience of working in a similar environment. You will be enthusiastic, an effective communicator, have high standards, and be sensitive to the needs of people with learning disabilities. For this senior role we are looking for someone capable of running and managing shifts.
Initially, you will be providing support to just one individual living in their own supported living home. They have some challenging needs and full training and support will be provided to enable the team to support them in a proactive way; delivering a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) model of support, and understanding that all challenges are a form of communication.
Working hours are 40 hours per week, on a rotational shift pattern with varied shifts including weekdays and weekends; a flexible approach to work is essential. You will be required to work occasional sleep in shifts (min. of 1 per week) for which we pay £50 per night.
Part-time could be considered for the right applicant, this would be a minimum of 21 hours to ensure consistency for the service user/s.
Can you:
Provide a customised, responsive, and high-quality service to a person with Autism and sensory needs?
Are you:
- passionate about providing the highest quality of care
- aspiring to work with an innovative care business
- caring and supportive person
- able to work independently as well as part of a team
- aspiring to grow your career
- a driver with a Full UK Driving Licence
- resilient and calm
In return, you can expect:
- a salary of £26,520pa (reviewed annually) (£12.75ph)
- sleep in shifts £50 per night (you can realistically expect to earn additional £2,000-£4,000 per year depending on the number of sleep ins you are able to do)
- double pay for bank holidays (Triple for Christmas Day and New Year's Day)
- an annual bonus based on company performance
- the equivalent of at least 29 days holiday (including bank holidays).
- a company pension scheme where eligible
- group life insurance of 2x salary
- wellbeing benefits
- a collaborative and supportive induction process
- continuing professional development
- support towards achieving your NVQ 4 or 5 in Health and Social Care
- in house specialist Autism and PBS training
- Company sick pay (following a successful probation period, for permanent contracts)
- to both receive a £500 bonus if you refer a friend or ex colleague to work for SDR Care
Your required skills and experiences:
- We will need most of the team to have a full UK license and you must be willing to drive a service user’s own vehicle.
- Experience and/or understanding of supporting individuals with autism and complex needs.
- NVQ Level 3
It is important that we recruit the RIGHT team members for this role, and we will be organising a rota primarily to suit the service user. We will be supporting the service user 24/7 and envisage the following shift time will apply:
Early 07:45-15:00
Late 14:45-22:00
Sleep in 22:00-08.00 (start at 6.00 to support with personal care).
**Our Values**:
Calmness
We enjoy the challenge of working in a demanding world with fluid situations but every decision is better when made by calm heads.
Respect
For colleagues, residents, clients, partners, investors and the communities that we work in. We give respect wherever we go and hope to earn it back.
Innovation
Ideas are encouraged at every turn in order to drive the efficiency and experience of the business.
Enhancement
From our products and services through to the quality of the portfolio we must be ready to improve and enhance to be best in class.
