The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Learning Disability Physiotherapist. The post Holder will be working in the Stockport Community Learning Disabilities Team which is an integrated Health and Social Care Team. They will be working alongside members of the multidisciplinary team and social work / Health colleagues. The post holder will be organising and assisting the Physiotherapist with delivering high quality exercise programs using various modes of interventions in various settings. This will include visits to service user’s homes, day services, colleges, schools, organising clinic sessions, Preparation and participation in Hydrotherapy and interventions as prescribed by the Physiotherapist.

The post holder will work as per Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust policy. They will be completing relevant Physiotherapy documentation as required for the role. The post holder will ensure the highest standard of delivering Physiotherapy interventions under direction of the Physiotherapist and will be required to engage with service users with complex Physical and cognitive impairments. The Post holder will have excellent communication skills and experience in managing behaviours that may challenge that can be expected in the specialist area of Learning Disabilities.
1. Work under instruction from the Physiotherapist, Management
2. Follow Pennine Policies and local policies that are relevant to the role.
3. Work as part of the MDT
4. Deliver exercise programs as prescribed by the Physiotherapist
5. Manage Hydrotherapy appointments, pool side management and assisting the Physiotherapist in the pool is essential to this role.
6. Organise Clinic sessions for therapy programs

- To carry out Physiotherapy programmes and treatments as instructed by the Physiotherapist and provide feedback at regular intervals. To plan own work.
- To assist in Hydrotherapy sessions and assist clients to get changed and hoist into pool.
- Support clients to swimming therapy and follow set programmes without direct supervision
- To assist in Rebound Therapy sessions (therapeutic use of the trampoline).
- To participate in and lead client group therapy sessions following set programmes without direct supervision.
- Run routine Orthotic Clinic and Manual Handling training for other staff.
- To collect and deliver items from the Loan Stores.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To communicate effectively across the Adult Learning disability Service with service users, their carers’ and other disciplines.
- To keep accurate records and contribute to department statistical returns.
- To be involved in the Risk Management process, completing risk assessments as required.

- To be involved in the auditing and setting of standards for the Adult Learning Disability Service.
- To be involved in care planning and goal setting for service users as required.
- Participate in meetings and reviews, as required.
- To attend mandatory training sessions and relevant in service training.
- Participate in Research and Development as required.
- To ensure that equipment used is kept to the required standard and any faults reported promptly.
- Any other duties deemed suitable by the Physiotherapy lead.
