The Documentary Unit in Glasgow produces a wide breadth of content including _Inside Culture_, _Imagine_, _Being Bridget Jones_, _This Farming Life_, _Landward_ and _A Life in Ten Pictures_ for channels including BBC One, Two and Four, PBS, Netflix and more.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Co-ordinator on _Imagine, _the BBC’s flagship arts strand. _Imagine_ is an award-winning series which has been bringing provoking and distinctive documentaries to BBC One for almost twenty years. Our films range across all fields of culture and in recent years we are proud to have profiled such figures as Margaret Atwood, David Hockney, Bernardine Evaristo, Philip Pullman, Labi Siffre, Tracey Emin, Edna O’Brien and Lenny Henry. Our base is in Glasgow but we work with talent across the UK and beyond.

Main Responsibilities

The Production Co-ordinator will provide essential logístical and budgetary support to the production team, co-ordinating production activities to ensure delivery is on time and within budget.

As a day-to-day focal point for a small tight-knit team, you’ll work closely with editorial staff setting up shoots and managing the resources needed.

Your role will cover: booking crew, kit and locations; sourcing quotes from suppliers; communicating within the team and with outside suppliers; liaising with talent and our presenter; preparing schedules and call-sheets; overseeing workflow of rushes from location to post-production; clearing music and rights; and post-production paperwork. You’ll be working to tight deadlines, sometimes under pressure and across more than one programme at once, while always producing work to a high standard and with a ‘can-do’ attitude.

You’ll be a self-starter, with a solid knowledge of the process of factual production, who can problem solve and think ahead. You will be invested in the content you work on, and enjoy contributing to the common goals of a supportive production team.
- You’ll have considerable experience working as a Production Co-ordinator across a variety of Factual content.
- Have a genuine interest in The Documentary Unit’s output, including Specialist Factual, arts and culture.
- Proactive and adaptable individual who is highly organised and can work well under pressure.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Good communicator.
- Experience of working with running costs.
- Solid knowledge of clearing copyright.
- Have good attention to detail when working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience of setting up location shoots.
