Payroll Officer

Role Purpose
To assist in the provision of pension payroll services of Trust-Based Pensions
Key Accountabilities
**Payroll**:
Process pensioner payrolls, ensuring timeliness & accuracy
Produce Pensions Increases for checking as required (annual, anniversary and GMP)
RTI submission to HMRC
PAYE Reconciliation and payment to HMRC
Manual PAYE calculations for arrears payments/overpayment recoveries
Dealing with HMRC on issues such as PAYE Reconciliation differences
Assist with tax year-end process
Ensure checklists and processes adhered to and presented alongside work for peer review / checking
Ensure timely response to all member queries
Ensure Errors, breaches & complaints are escalated to Team Leader/Manager immediately upon receipt / being identified
Ensure accurate status of client work on all payroll calendars and logs
Maintain an accurate record of time spent on client(s) where applicable
Keep up to date with Fraud Prevention
**Be familiar and comply with Broadstone policies**: Information Security
Compliance - reporting errors of non-compliance
Quality Management
Embrace and take ownership of improvement projects and deliver in required timescales
Communicate effectively with other departments and support other areas of the business as and when required
Work with all members of the team to actively contribute to its development and effectiveness
Technical Knowledge and Professional Qualifications
Key Skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, with “can do” attitude
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to use initiative to identify solutions
Adaptable and flexible to new tasks & workloads
Competent user of SAGE payroll
Competent user of Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Confident in written and verbal communications with internal staff and external parties
Good team player
Required
GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English, Grade C and above.
Previous experience of payroll.
Recommended
Experience of working for a Third-Party Administrator or in-house pension scheme
Overarching Obligations
Adhere to all relevant laws & regulations, and Broadstone Policies & Procedures (as set out in the current Compliance Manual or bulletins issued from time to time)
Achieve a good standard of ethical behaviour
Comply with all relevant professional standards
Comply with the FCA’s requirements in relation to Conduct Risk & Treating Customers Fairly
