Liverpool City Council Children and Young People’s Service is on an exciting journey and the recently created Children’s Workforce Academy is at the forefront of driving high quality practice across the holistic children’s practice system.
**The Role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced practitioner to join our ever-evolving Children’s Workforce Academy as a Race Equalities Officer (Education). This post, fixed term until 31 March 2026, is to cover the current post holder’s secondment and forms part of our continued improvement activity in driving strength-based, relational, and collaborative practice in our work with children, young people, and their networks, with a specific focus upon race equality within our educational practice system.
As a Race Equalities Officer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of positive action initiatives aligned to the Council and specifically our Children and Young People’s Services’ Diversity, Equality & Inclusion strategy, with a specific focus on race equality within the education setting and education workforce.
The role will assist in supporting our ambition in creating a diverse workforce which is representative of our communities and ensuring that service delivery meets the needs of the diverse communities we serve.
**About you**:
- We are looking for an energetic, creative, and experienced practitioner who can demonstrate tenacity and enthusiasm in making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people by leading and implementing our Diversity, Equality & Inclusion strategy, with specific reference to race equality
- You will have experience in project management, whether by leading this activity or forming part of the team. Through the effective analysis and evaluation of project implementation, you will advise on lessons learnt and where further improvements may be made to enhance the services we offer. You will have a demonstrable commitment to the values of family involvement, relational approaches, and empowerment, as well as a commitment to working with minority protected characteristic groups
- You will have the ability to work to deadlines, have good communication and written skills and have experience of working with others internally and externally, always demonstrating a commitment to working to the highest standards whilst remaining child focused
- We are a small team and positive relationships are valued. You will also be working with the teams across our service and therefore, it is essential that the post holder is able to work effectively with others with a flexible and adaptable approach in a relational based approach
- You will be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently, with skills in working within timescales and with conflicting priorities
