About the role and what we’re looking for
The community safety officer is a key role in the community safety team, working with partners to support the South and Vale Community Safety Partnership (CSP) and keep our communities safe.
**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Lead on anti-social behaviour (ASB) case management:
- act as the first point of contact for residents who report ASB and hate crime to the councils, manage the response and record reports on the appropriate council systems;
- utilise the district council/CSP tools set out in the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 to respond to ASB in South and Vale;
- organise, support and participate in ASB case conferences and action planning, including chairing meetings;
- co-ordinate and chair regular neighbourhood ASB meetings, record and monitor actions and ensure they link effectively with wider partnership working;
- provide information relating to ASB for the CSP, councils and other interested parties.
- Lead on local community safety projects that support the CSP's priorities (e.g. ASB, serious violence, violence against women and girls):
- carrying out Environmental Visual Audits (EVAs) with partners;
- analysing crime data and other sources of relevant information (including outcomes from EVAs) to identify relevant projects;
- researching best practice both locally and nationally to inform projects;
- delivering projects with partners within local communities;
- Co-ordinate CSP subgroups (including producing papers, minute taking, chairing meetings and monitoring delivery of actions).
- Promote the performance of the community safety team to a wide range of stakeholders through a variety of channels including social media.
- Provide advice to council teams and partner agencies on community safety matters.
- Undertake such other projects and duties as may be required from time to time.
**Your essential skills, knowledge, and experience**
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- proven team working skills excellent interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to work with a wide variety or people
- able to chair meetings
- full driving licence and access to a vehicle
You will be required to live within a reasonable commuting distance to the districts. (Although the councils are offering hybrid working arrangements, due to the nature of this role living within a reasonable commuting distance of the districts is an essential requirement.)
**Your essential qualifications**
- educated to A level or equivalent standard

- an understanding of community safety work and legislation
- experience of partnership working
- experience of dealing with ASB cases
