This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading economic development consultancies helping our clients to shape and implement national and local policy. You will join our Research Consultant Development Programme, which provides structureand support to boost your professional development during the first two years.This offers training and opportunities to network with your peers in other offices and work with colleagues at all levels in SQW.

We have specific expertise in a range of policy areas, and there are opportunities to work across the board.These include: innovation and business growth; spatial and local economic development; education, skills and employment; and health.Recent examplesof projects across these areas include:

- Evaluations of four Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund programmes covering manufacturing, food production, foundation industries and precision medicine
- Research to support the refresh of the Northern Powerhouse Independent Economic Review
- Market assessment and business case for a proposed new Sustainable Materials Translational Research Centre in Greater Manchester
- Looking at the impact of improving communication between healthcare professionals and patients in the NHS in England
- Evaluations of the Work and Health programmes in Greater Manchester and London
- Reviewing the productivity and environmental impacts of low carbon innovation programmes
- Research to support the University of Glasgow and Scottish Enterprise in attracting funding to grow the precision medicine sector and ecosystem in Scotland
- Cell and gene therapy cluster study for Hertfordshire LEP
- Support for a number of Levelling Up and Towns Fund bids.

**Research Consultants** play an important role in SQW’s project teams, working on a wide variety of assignments. Your work will typically include carrying out background research, conducting literature and policy reviews, managing and analysingsurveys, undertaking interviews, analysing data, report writing, and contributing to team and client meetings. There are opportunities to make a real contribution to the business and help our clients shape national and local policy early on in your careerwith us.
