**Job summary**:
- Major Crime Investigative Support (MCIS) provides front line policing with information, advice and support in relation to major crime and vulnerable and intimidated witnesses. The unit's primary focus is to support investigations through both written and verbal advice, investigative suggestions and where required, access to the MCIS's deployable resources. This role is part of the main gateway into MCIS.
**Job description**:
You will be part of a small team that support law enforcement major crime investigations.
Your varied duties mean that every day will bring a new challenge. The often time-critical nature of your activities will mean you must be able to multi-task and prioritise.
The role utilises a wide range of knowledge and experience around policies, good practice and shared learning, from partner agencies and law enforcement that is current and delivered in a timely fashion.
**Responsibilities**:
To provide support to the investigation of major and complex crime. This will be achieved through targeted research of MCIS case management systems to help inform decision making and sharing of best practice. (MCIS are required to support and share best practice across Law Enforcement partners)
Develop an extensive knowledge of policies, good practice, National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) guidance, relevant law enforcement and government documentation to deliver consistent, up-to-date information to assist investigators. (MCIS advise Law Enforcement partners across a number of disciplines)
To be the first point of contact for all enquiries into MCIS. Record, categorise and triage requests for support via the case management system, identifying the most appropriate team to support the enquiry. (This role is responsible for the triaging and assessment of referrals as they arrive within MCIS)
Acting as a Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for MCIS. (Act as the departmental single point of contact (SPOC) in support of team projects)
Building working relationships with law enforcement agencies and both internal and external partners (Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders)
Experience in the quality assurance of record management to mitigate against errors and duplicate recording. (Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders)
Maintain accurate and up to date records for management information purposes, using IT systems to record and conducting effective administrative tasking around data compliance in line with policy (Record Management covering CPIA obligations)
