Spire Washington are recruiting for experienced General Scrub Practitioners to join their friendly and supportive team. Long days are available for this role and with excellent development opportunities available.
S pire Washington is a 35 in-patient bedded hospital with 10 consultation and 2 treatment rooms based just off junction 63 of the A1 with great commuter links. Our Hospital offers a range of services and facilities including four operating theatres covering various specialities including Orthopaedics and Gynaecology and a full Diagnostic suite.
**Duties and responsibilities**
Working as part of this friendly and supportive team you can expect to assist patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures including ENT, neurological, orthopedic, laparoscopic, ophthalmic, gynecology and urology.
- You will be required to support the theatre staff ensuring high standards of effective care are delivered to all patients within the Theatre suite, whilst maintaining communication within the team
- You will also need to prepare an operating theatre for surgery in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for specific operative procedures, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum
- You will be required to perform scrub duties
- You will also develop a working environment and culture that actively improves health, safety and security and infection control, lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices
- You will support in assessing patient's health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload, assisting in the delivery of care to meet the patient's needs
**Who we're looking for**
An interest in development and progression is encouraged and reinforced, offering the opportunity to complete the surgical first assist course and specialise within the surgical areas on offer. Our onsite education team will keep you up to date with BLS and ILS and you will be provided with your ALS training.
- ODP or Nursing qualification
- HCPC or NMC registration
- Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner with scrub experience
- Experience of working in teams and with minimum supervision
- Competence across a range of skills, supported by professional and clinical knowledge acquired through state registration/practitioner qualification
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Caring for patients undergoing procedures
- Providing exemplary planned care for patients within the perioperative stage
- Assessing patient needs, implementing and evaluating their care.
- Assisting in the management and organisation of care provision within the Scrub/Recovery team in the operating department
- Acting as Scrub Practitioner across a range of clinical specialities.
- Working across multi-disciplinary teams
