**Job Title**: Grounds and Events Operative

**Reporting To**:Facilities Team Leader

**Basis**: Full time

**Salary**: £25,500 per annum

**Working Hours**: 40 hours per week

Weekend work will be required and some evenings

**Location**: Kent Showground, Maidstone

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with general maintenance and ground care of the Kent Showground
- Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, and edging lawns and garden beds
- Conduct regular inspections of outdoor areas to identify and address issues such as pest problems, broken equipment, or safety hazards.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment including lawn mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers
- Work with the Facilities Team Leader and Events Team in setting up and break downs for conferences and events held at the Kent Showground
- Ensure all furniture and equipment is kept clean and tidy and stored correctly
- Assist in the maintenance of all Society owned furniture, equipment and buildings
- Act as a point of contact for event/conference organisers during events in liaison with the Facilities Team Leader and Events Team Leader
- Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Facilities Team Leader or General Manager from time to time.

**Skills and experience**:

- Clean UK full driving license
- Basic maintenance skills
- Previous physical role (paid or voluntary)
- Qualifications in general maintenance or ground care (desirable)
- Fork-lift and boom-lift license (desirable)

**Personal attributes**:

- Able to work as part of a small team and independently
- Self-motivated
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure
- Eagerness to learn and develop
- Ability to use own initiative
- Willingness to take on responsibility and accountability
- Good time management

Pay: £25,500.00 per year
