- Planning routes for the following day/week and allocating jobs to drivers
- Communicating with drivers throughout the day
- Planning driver holidays
- Contacting logistics partners across the country to arrange back loads
- Reviewing health & safety onsite and especially around our transport activities
- Monitoring drivers’ hours and carrying out routine compliance checks
- Maintain contact with existing customers and deal with potential customer enquiries
- Managing internal records and databases with up to date information
- Work with other areas of the business to ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation
- Work in accordance with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) standards
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in an HGV/LGV environment
- Experience of planning for general road freight, load planning and 3rd party logistics
- Extensive knowledge of operational processes and practices in transport operations
- Excellent numeracy/literacy and IT skills
- Ideally Sound geographical knowledge of the UK
- Strong organisational skills
- Experience in Transport planning is essential, as well as a full drivers’ licence and your own transport. You will be expected to work overtime during busy periods when required._
