**Do you want to use your Barista skills for good? The British Red Cross are recruiting two casual baristas to run a new social enterprise coffee cart**

**About this opportunity**

The British Red Cross have just launched Leaps & Grounds - a brand new social enterprise with a mission to sell excellent, ethical coffee while supporting refugee women into work. We’re open Monday - Friday and looking for two talented baristas to help build up this new specialty coffee venture.
Refugees are underrepresented in the UK workforce and female refugees have even worse employment outcomes than their male counterparts. We are on a mission to change that, and support refugee women to build up their confidence, experience, and connections through coffee.
We have a secure outdoor, covered location near Moorgate station and are looking for two part-time experienced baristas to lead on the day to day running of the coffee cart.

**How does Leaps & Grounds work?**

Refugee women and expert barista volunteers work alongside one another to serve excellent, delicious specialty coffee to the public.
Through this work experience, the women build their skills, confidence, and social connections so they can use the experience to move into longer term employment.
After a successful pilot, Leaps & Grounds is in development within THE BRC’s Innovation Hub. We have two members of staff running the programme and are looking for skilled baristas to man the operation on the ground.

**Who are we looking for?**

We are recruiting for skilled baristas, comfortable managing a coffee cart. We’re working with partners in the specialty coffee industry and machinery giants to create a high spec set up.
We need someone who can confidently deliver excellent specialty coffee, and coach other baristas to improve their skills.
Most importantly, we’re looking for a warm and energetic person who can deliver great customer service and create an enjoyable environment on the cart. Engaging with customers, volunteers and programme participants with kindness and empathy is key.

**What do we offer?**

We’re open Monday - Friday and will be offering up to 19 hours a week (depending on requirements). Flexibility will be required.
You’ll have a chance to build a new social enterprise from the ground up and develop lead barista skills.
Training with our specialty coffee partner may be possible on request.

**This role might be for you if**
- You have experience opening & closing premises
- You are experienced with dialling in, checking for quality, and improving team practices
- You have excellent barista skills
- You can demonstrate a warm outlook and great customer service skills
- You have the ability to manage stock and orders
- You are comfortable running rotas and leading a team
- If you have a Food hygiene certificate Level 2 this will be a distinct advantage.
