**Location**:Skellingthorpe, Lincoln.
**Days & Hours**: Part time and Bank Hours available.
These shifts are agreed to meet our client’s needs and are in accordance with the rota.
Typical shifts are as follows (please note that shift start and end times may vary slightly):
**Monday to Friday**:
- 7:30am to 10am/ 9am to 4pm/4pm to 9.30pm/sleep-in shifts: 4pm to 9am.
**Saturday and Sunday - **10am to 6pm/6pm to 10.30pm/sleep-in shifts: 6pm to 10am.
**Pay and Benefits**:
- £12.31 to £14.08 per hour dependent on shift pattern and experience.
- Sleeping nights will be paid at £NMW/£NLW (dependent on the Support Worker's age) per hour, Monday - Thursday and NMW/£NLW +£1 per hour for Friday - Sunday.
- Enhanced pay over Christmas Bank Holiday hours.
- 5.6 weeks annual leave, pro rata.

- Free DBS check.
**Driver required? **Yes - desirable, to drive our client's automatic Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle. Experience of towing a caravan would be a bonus.

**Desirable Experience**:Working with young adults with additional needs. Able to work flexible hours

Our client, born in 2002, suffered a trauma at birth that has resulted in him having cerebral palsy affecting his whole body and causing him to have communication difficulties. He lives in his own home with his mother. He receives 24/7 care support.
Our client has a positive attitude and cheeky personality. He enjoys having fun and spending time with his friends and family. He enjoys meaningful activities and likes being independent with opportunities to make choices. To communicate, he has some spoken words. He also uses a communication device (Gridpad 15) along with gestures and an alphabet page.
He enjoys a variety of activities, requiring support to access them. He is very creative and, with physical assistance, loves to engage in practical hands-on construction tasks. He likes a good laugh. He enjoys going out and is seeking to increase his social activities.
The purpose of the job is to provide assistance to our client with all aspects of daily living. Detailed management plans composed by clinical professionals and the client, set out how our client wants to be assisted. Independence, dignity, meaningful activity, choice and quality of life are of the highest importance.
Support Workers will be expected to follow advice and recommendations from our client and specialists i.e. on positioning, feeding, exercises, etc. The post requires the use of specialist equipment including hoists, power wheelchair and recumbent bike. Client specific training will be provided.
We are particularly looking for individuals who are able to work flexibly to meet the needs of our client throughout the week. Various part-time hours are available as well as bank hours to cover annual leave and sickness as required. Please note that as part of the part time role on call cover will be required to support our client.
Every day is different, and the support will be varied. As well as day-to-day personal care, routines, activities, and therapies, there will be a variety of designated roles to carry out to assist our client.
- About You
- Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Moving and Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you will be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
- Experience in working in a supporting role, preferably with young people, or keen to develop a career in this work.
- Confident about working in client’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of his mother.
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and to respect our client and their family's need for privacy.
- Flexible and proactive attitude to work.
- Keen to see our client develop with their path in life and assist with parts of this.
- Open to being flexible with ensuring care continuity when our client is not attending a day service or education provision.
- A team player.
- Good sense of humour.
- Cheerful and caring with a positive attitude, as well as having a high level of patience and tolerance.
- Reliable, trustworthy and a good communicator.
- Interested in people and committed to supporting others.
- Happy to learn new things in accordance with the client’s programme.
- Proactive approach to developing an appropriate range of activities.
- Willing to participate in a variety of outdoor activities.
- Able to gain the trust of our client and his family, and to build good working relationships.
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

- Water confident to assist our client with hydrotherapy, where required.
