**North Energy & Advisory Team**

Arup’s North Energy & Advisory team is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy. We are focused on supporting Scotland and the UK’s energy industry in delivering a net zero carbon economy, while developing a hub of expertise in Industrial Decarbonisation & Hydrogen, Offshore Energy, Urban Energy & Future Energy Systems to support Arup’s global clients.

With the continued expansion of our Energy & Advisory business, we are looking for a recognised industry leader who will accelerate the growth of our Industrial Decarbonisation and Hydrogen business in the North. You will be responsible for the growth of our business through securing a portfolio of strategic and influential multi-disciplinary advisory projects providing a range of high value advisory expertise including commercial, regulatory, economic, policy, technical and planning advice to a range of public and private sector clients.

The North region with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast and Newcastle is engaged with the wider Arup network, delivering projects in a diverse range of market sectors. You will be closely networked with Arup’s national hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation and energy teams and will have access to a breadth and depth of specialist expertise.

**The role**

You will work alongside other energy business leaders, experts and specialists across Arup helping shape and deliver some of the most important infrastructure and policy decarbonisation programmes facing the UK energy market. The role requires someone who enjoys both creating meaningful client relationships, and then delivering this work to the highest level of quality. Responsibilities will include:

- Build meaningful and deep relationships with a small number of key strategic clients and geographical locations including at Teesside, Grangemouth and the North East.
- Lead client engagement and relationship management, project creation, identification of opportunities and preparation of high quality winning bids.
- Being a senior member of the North Energy & Advisory Team, supporting the North Energy & Advisory Director to drive an ambitious growth strategy, with an expectation for this role to secure and deliver £1m+ business within 24 months, and a £4m+ business within 5 years.
- Represent Arup as a project director and/or industrial decarbonisation/hydrogen expert in client facing roles, guiding and delivering a diverse range of advisory projects. Commissions will be with a range of clients, market sectors, technologies, and project values;
- Steer multidisciplinary teams to deliver high value strategic advisory projects including strategy advice, market assessment, research studies, policy advice, business case development, techno economic appraisal, feasibility assessment, concept engineering, and project and programme management;
- Over time, the role will balance developing and growing the team in the North with supporting Arup's wider UK and Global energy activities. Initially (1-2 years) most of the focus will be on the North, then, once the role is established, more involvement in wider activities is anticipated.
- Focus on development of our energy offering by developing and growing a team focused on the North market in addition to growing integration with the wider UKIMEA energy teams.

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Depth of knowledge of the UK energy regulatory frameworks across mature and emerging sectors including overarching energy legislation, policy, incentives and funding structures influencing the energy industry.
- Detailed technical knowledge of specific energy technologies in the industrial decarbonisation and hydrogen markets including the entire value chain from supply to demand.
- You will have a close and established network of industry contacts including investors, utilities, governments, developers and infrastructure owners, and have proven skills in developing meaningful client relationships to secure workload.
- Project delivery and leadership of complex multidisciplinary projects to the highest quality.
- Business, people and commerical management.
